Manuscript Submission

By submitting a manuscript to Cognitive Systems Insights (CSI), authors confirm that the work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration elsewhere. Upon acceptance, the manuscript will not be published in the same or another language without prior written consent.

All submissions must be written in English and undergo independent double-blind peer review. The publisher assumes no legal responsibility for claims related to published content.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

Cognitive Systems Insights (CSI) does not charge any fees for manuscript submission, peer review, or publication.

Permissions

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any copyrighted material (figures, tables, or text). Evidence of permission must be submitted with the manuscript. Material without documentation will be assumed to be original.

Source Files

Authors must submit editable source files for all submissions and revisions. Manuscripts should be prepared in .doc or .docx format. A compiled PDF version must also be provided.

Each submission must include:

Corresponding Author

  • Full name
  • Institutional affiliation
  • Valid e-mail address
  • Full postal address

Manuscript Files

  • Main manuscript (with keywords)
  • Figures (with captions)
  • Tables (with titles and footnotes)
  • Supplementary files (if applicable)

Checklist

  • Spell-checked and grammar-checked
  • All references cited consistently
  • Permissions obtained for copyrighted material
  • Competing interest statement included
  • Journal policies reviewed
  • Reviewer suggestions provided (optional)

Title Page

The title page must include:

  • Article title
  • Author names and affiliations
  • Abstract
  • Keywords

Concise and informative.

Author Information

  • Full names and affiliations
  • Corresponding author clearly identified
  • ORCID iD (mandatory for corresponding author)

For unaffiliated authors, only city and country will be listed.

Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT do not qualify for authorship. Any use of AI tools must be disclosed in the Methods section.

Abstract & Keywords

  • Abstract: 200–250 words
  • No undefined abbreviations or references
  • Clearly state problem, gap, method, and results
  • Keywords: 4–6 indexing terms

Highlights (Optional but Recommended)

  • 3–5 bullet points
  • Max 85 characters per bullet
  • Submitted as a separate file

Text Formatting

  • Decimal heading system (max three levels)
  • Define abbreviations at first use
  • SI units and standard scientific notation

  • Numbered consecutively
  • Caption above table

  • Permissions required for reused figures

Equations

Equations must be prepared using MathType or Equation Editor and symbols must be defined upon first appearance.

Acknowledgments

Concise recognition of contributors.

Author Contributions

Clear role description using standardized contribution taxonomy.

Funding

Declare funding sources or explicitly state none.

Data Availability

Authors must specify where data can be accessed or explain restrictions.

Conflicts of Interest

All financial and non-financial interests must be disclosed. If none exist, authors must state this explicitly.

References

  • Numerical citation style [1], [2]
  • Listed in order of appearance
  • DOIs required where available
  • REA Press citation style recommended
  • Use Mendeley (REA style)

Supplementary Information

  • Submitted in PDF, DOC, CSV, or XLSX
  • Must be cited in the manuscript
  • Published exactly as received

Authorship Principles

CSI follows ICMJE authorship criteria. All authors must meet all four requirements:

  1. Substantial contribution
  2. Drafting or critical revision
  3. Final approval
  4. Accountability

Contributors not meeting these criteria must be acknowledged.

AI Assistance Policy

AI tools may be used only with disclosure. AI systems cannot be listed as authors. Authors are fully responsible for accuracy, originality, and ethical compliance.

Changes to Authorship

Authorship changes after acceptance are not permitted. Any changes during revision require editorial approval.

Authors’ Ethical Responsibilities

CSI follows COPE guidelines. Authors must:

  • Avoid plagiarism and data manipulation
  • Declare conflicts transparently
  • Ensure institutional approval
  • Participate in peer review when requested

All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software.

After Acceptance

Accepted articles undergo typesetting and proof review. Only minor corrections are allowed. Final articles are published online with a DOI and are fully citable.

Copyright Agreement

Upon acceptance, authors must sign the CSI copyright agreement granting publishing rights while retaining ownership under open-access licensing. Reuse is permitted with proper attribution.
